The Four P’s of Pentecost

The Four P’s of Pentecost are a teaching framework used to describe the nature and work of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers, especially in light of the events recorded in Acts 2. They are often summarized as Patience, Power, Passion, and Person Oxford Assembly of God Church. 1. Patience The Holy Spirit’s patience reflects God’s perfect timing and plan. Just as the disciples waited in Jerusalem for nine days before Pentecost, believers today are called to trust God’s timing and remain faithful until the Spirit’s work is complete. This patience is not passive waiting, but active readiness to receive and respond to the Spirit’s leading Oxford Assembly of God Church. 2. Power The Holy Spirit empowers believers beyond their own abilities. In Acts 2, the apostles were filled with the Spirit and could speak in tongues, enabling them to reach people from all nations. This power is for witnessing, living out God’s truth, and overcoming challenges. It is not dependent on human effort but on the Spirit’s indwelling Oxford Assembly of God Church. 3. Passion The Holy Spirit’s passion is evident in the urgency and zeal to live for God. The apostles were passionate about sharing the gospel, even in the face of opposition. This passion drives believers to pursue holiness, love others, and be active in God’s mission. It is the fire that moves us to action and service Oxford Assembly of God Church. 4. Person The Holy Spirit is a distinct Person of the Trinity, not just a force or energy. The Spirit is relational, personal, and present with believers. As Paul writes, “God’s Spirit lives in you” (1 Cor. 3:16). This personhood means the Spirit guides, comforts, and intercedes for us, leading us into all truth-
